WHEN I’M NOT AT WORK, YOU CAN FIND ME…
Hanging out with my roommate in our apartment in Seattle. We have 2 cats, tons of plants, and like to sit outside in the sunshine or go for walks around the neighborhood.
WHEN I WANT TO DE-STRESS, I…
Spend time on my art projects. I’ve been painting people and places that I love with watercolor or acrylic, and I’m almost done with my first knitted blanket.
MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR IS…
Autumn! Washington is so gorgeous as all the leaves change colors, and its still nice enough to get outside before it is dark and rainy all winter.
WHAT LED YOU TO PURSUE A CAREER HELPING OTHERS?
I always knew I enjoyed medicine, but it wasn’t until I started working in healthcare that I discovered my passion for patient advocacy and improving access within our healthcare system. I believe that advocating for my patients and taking the time to help them feel safe and heard can make a huge difference in the quality of their care.
WHAT EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE DO YOU BRING TO YOUR ROLE?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, as well as my CNA license. I plan to attend medical school and my love for science means I am continually furthering my education to be able provide the best and most comprehensive care possible for all my patients.
WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am constantly inspired by my colleagues at THIRA, who work so hard to ensure our patients receive great care, and by our patients, who come in every day committed to creating a life worth living.
WHAT IS ONE SMALL THING PEOPLE CAN DO TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES AND INCREASE THEIR HAPPINESS?
Don’t be afraid to learn to advocate for yourself, whether its in your personal life or with your healthcare provider. Set boundaries and realize that you are worthy of respect, and people who respect you will respect your boundaries too.
