Summer DBT Intensive for Teens

Build Skills, Confidence, and Resilience This Summer

Summer can be an ideal time for teens to focus on their mental health without the demands of school schedules. THIRA Health’s Summer DBT Intensive provides structured, evidence-based support for adolescents who need additional help managing emotions, navigating relationships, and building healthy coping skills.

Our in-person teen summer DBT program offers a supportive environment where teens can learn and practice Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills while staying connected to their daily lives and family systems. Through process groups, family involvement, and clinical support, participants gain practical tools they can continue using long after the program ends.

THIRA is now accepting clients for our Summer DBT Intensive.

What Is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals develop skills to manage overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, tolerate distress, and stay present in the moment.

Throughout the program, teens learn and practice core DBT skills, including:

Mindfulness
Develop greater awareness of thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment.

Emotion Regulation
Learn strategies to understand and manage intense emotions more effectively.

Distress Tolerance
Build healthy coping skills for navigating difficult situations and emotional discomfort.

Interpersonal Effectiveness
Strengthen communication skills, set boundaries, and improve relationships with family and peers.

Why Family Participation Matters

Family participation and process groups are a required component of this program to enhance and implement DBT skills.

Research consistently shows that family involvement can improve treatment outcomes for adolescents. By participating in family sessions, caregivers gain a deeper understanding of DBT concepts and learn ways to support their teen’s progress at home.

This collaborative approach helps create lasting change beyond the treatment setting.
