Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
In-Person, DBT Skills-Based Mental Health Care for All Genders
THIRA Health’s Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers inclusive, in-person Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills-based treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. COMING SOON: Accepting adults of all genders in Bellevue, WA.
A Therapeutic Space for Growth and Belonging
At THIRA Health, we believe healing is most effective when care is inclusive, evidence-based, and individualized. Our Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers support for individuals 18+ seeking a structured step in their mental health journey—whether transitioning from higher levels of care or needing more than traditional outpatient therapy can offer.
Who We Help
This program is open to all genders and welcomes individuals with diverse identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
The THIRA Adult IOP serves adults who are:
- Experiencing intense emotions that are difficult to manage
- Struggling with anxiety, depression, or mood instability
- Wanting to stop suicidal, self-harming, or other self-destructive and impulsive behaviors
- Navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, or identity exploration
- Seeking gender-affirming, culturally competent mental health care
- Looking for structured support after residential or PHP programs
We meet each individual where they are with deep respect for their treatment goals and values.
What Makes Our Adult IOP Different
Unlike many outpatient programs, THIRA’s Adult IOP offers:
A Comprehensive DBT Skills-Based Framework
Our entire curriculum is grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), helping participants:
- Regulate intense emotions and reduce avoidance
- Build distress tolerance skills and reduce self-destructive patterns
- Improve communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- Build mindfulness and the capacity to listen to their inherent wisdom
Individual Therapy Built for Every Person
Individual therapy is a cornerstone of our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), offering personalized support tailored to each participant’s unique journey. These one-on-one sessions provide a confidential, nonjudgmental, and validating space to delve deeper into the personal challenges that have brought participants to treatment.
Guided by skilled clinicians trained in DBT, individual therapy complements group sessions by focusing on specific goals and reinforcing new skills in a one-on-one setting. This integrated approach ensures that each participant receives the individualized attention necessary to foster meaningful progress and build a life worth living.
Relational & Community-Oriented Care
Group sessions at THIRA Health are intentionally designed to create a supportive and welcoming learning environment for all participants. Facilitated by clinicians, each group provides a structured yet compassionate space where participants are encouraged to share, reflect, and grow together.
Small group sizes are a core feature of our model, allowing for deeper discussion, meaningful peer interaction, and individualized feedback within a supportive therapeutic community. This also promotes interpersonal skill building and a chance to navigate real-life relationship dynamics in a healing, nonjudgmental environment.
We believe that connection and relationships are not just a benefit of group therapy—they are a critical part of recovery. Relationships with friends and family are often a key part of treatment. Participants are supported in strengthening current relationships, building new connections, and gaining a greater sense of engagement with their community.
Whether you are learning new DBT skills or need a refresher on skills you’ve learned before, our groups aim to strengthen emotional resilience while honoring your lived experience and helping you build the relationships you want with yourself, your loved ones, and your community.
