WHEN I’M NOT AT WORK, YOU CAN FIND ME…
Bonding with my cat and watching That’s So Raven, exploring with my friends, trying a brewery, or hiking.
WHEN I WANT TO DE-STRESS, I…
Spend time outside or contact people I love to see how they are doing. Also, pet my cat and watch That’s So Raven.
MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR IS…
Autumn! Especially October.
WHAT LED YOU TO PURSUE A CAREER HELPING OTHERS?
I knew I wanted to help others in some way since I was a little kid. I was drawn to counseling by my high school psychology teacher, Ms. Adelman; she inspired me.
WHAT EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE DO YOU BRING TO YOUR ROLE?
I have my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Family, and my BA in Psychology and Sociology. Before coming to Thira, I was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (particularly Trauma-Focused-CBT), Trust Based Relational Interventions, and Play Therapy to provide therapy in the elementary school system for kids and families. Additionally, I’m a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. My prior knowledge and experience blend nicely with the DBT trainings I’ve received from Dr. Korslund here, and I use everything I’ve learned so far every day in treating our patients and families, as well as in assisting our team. I also like to think I bring some pizazz to my role- it’s important to me to have fun while working hard!
WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Our team and our patients! I’m also inspired by my dad and Dr. K.
WHAT IS ONE SMALL THING PEOPLE CAN DO TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES AND INCREASE THEIR HAPPINESS?
Practice gratitude every day. Or, get in the habit of saying ‘thank you’ every time you see something you like and/or appreciate. It can be as simple as noticing a flower you think is pretty, having a snack you enjoy, or finding an old item you thought you misplaced/ had forgotten about, and simply saying ‘thank you’ to it!
